Everything you need to know about Cells

Biology is such a vast arena where you will explore information about the chemical machine that is working every fraction of second inside your cells to broader spectrum of ecosystem and biological changes that occur in the environment. In cell biology, mitosis is a part of cell cycle wherein the duplicated chromosomes are divided into two different nuclei.

Structure of Cells and Cell Biology

Cell in a nut shell is the structural and functional unit of life. Human body works in a hierarchal system wherein the cells is from the tissues and the tissues from the tissue system. Robert Hooke is the scientist who discovered cells. Cells consists of cytoplasm covered inside a membrane which is usually composed of proteins and nuclei acids. A threadlike structure of nucleic acid that is found in the genetic material of an organism is called chromosome. Organism are generally classified into unicellular and multicellular depending on the cell structure. Cell biology is the study of cell structure and functions, growth, reproduction and death of cells.

Organelles present inside the cell

Some of the organelles present inside the cell are

  • Cell membrane
  • Nucleus
  • Mitochondria

Cell Membrane: Cell membrane otherwise called as plasma membrane consists of lipid layer with proteins. The main function is to protect the cell from its surroundings.

Nucleus: Cell nucleus also called as the brain of the cell. They are responsible for maintaining the hereditary information and plays a vital role in cell growth and reproduction. Mitosis is a process where the cell divides into two, the main objective of this process is for cell growth and replenishing the dead cells.

The cell is a study functional logic of living systems and building blocks of life. With cell biology you can understand the organelles of the cells and how it works.
